初めまして!(Nice to Meet You!)

A few things about me to get started…

  • I write fiction, largely action/adventure and fantasy for mostly adult audiences.
  • I’m a nerd about languages (hence the Japanese above). Japanese and English are my favorite and best known, but I don’t stop there. And in case you’re wondering, the little sign in the background of my picture means “Cat” 🙂
  • I love martial arts, cats, coffee, and most things literary, Japanese, beautiful, and/or a combination thereof. Writing is the place where I can combine those loves in countless exciting ways.
  • I have, so far, self-published two books, and have had a small handful of poems published in anthologies. To learn more about my published works, click here.
  • As of January 2023, I am ready to begin pursuing writing as a career and wrestle my way through the tradition publishing industry. I am putting manuscripts out to agents and editors as you read this.
  • I graduated from college with a BA in Japanese studies as of May, 2020, and moved in Japan in August of 2023. To see me nerd out over Japanese flowers, art, kimono, and other things in a picture heavy format, check out my Instagram @rayannerobison.

Lessons from Nature: Abrus Precatorius and the Maker’s Mind

I wandered to a part of the park I’d never seen before, which is my favorite way to go walking, and happily stumbled upon an area that seemed well tended but largely ignored. The trees grew in small clumps with cut grass and low-lying weeds. Around those trees were wrapped dead vines with bright red seeds nestled in large pods, ripped open at the seams… [But} That seemingly dead plant hanging limply against the proud oak wasn’t dead at all.
